Every kind of ship has its own number of slots in which you can fit modules. Some ships have more or less of any given slot-assignment (like the Tormentor which has no mid-slots); but, generally, all ships utilize three kinds of Slots. Ships vary in their slot composition. Please review a ship’s information page in-game to see high/mid/low/rig slots as part of your preparation for flying a new ship.
High Slot (HS) - Main Weapon
High Slots are for:
- Weaponry (Lasers, Railguns, Cannons, Decomposers, Missile Launchers)
- ‘Harvesting Equipments’ (MK3/5/7/9/Faction Miner/Strip Miner)
- Support Modules called Remote Repairers & Boosters ("aka: “reppers”, specifically: remote shield boosters, remote armor repairers) which allow you to provide armor or shield to a targeted ally (called: “repping”, which is a logistics role within fleet compositions in the EVE Universe).
As of release, EVE Echoes currently allows:
- Frigate class ships to have a maximum of 3 high slots.
- Destroyer class ships to have a maximum of 4 high slots.
- Cruiser class ships to have a maximum of 6 high slots - Like the Faction Ship: Orthrus, for example.
- Battle-cruiser class ships to have a maximum of 7 high slots - Like the Tech IX Ship: Naga II, for example.
- Battleship class ships to have a maximum of high 8 high slots - Like the Barghest, for example.
- Industrial class ships to have a maximum of 4 high slots - Like the Faction Ship: Humback Combat, for example.
Mid Slots (MS) - Sub Weapons
Mid Slots are for:
- Drones
- Electronic Warfare (aka: E-WAR)
- Energy Nosferatus (aka: ‘Nos’ modules)
- Energy Neutralizers (aka: ‘Neut’ modules
- Shield Field Modules
- Armor Link Modules
- Remote Capacitor Transmitters
- Group Shield Boosters
- Group Armor Repairers
- Group Capacitor Transmitters
As of release, EVE Echoes currently allows:
- Frigate class ships to have a maximum of 2 mid slots (with faction ships having possibility of 3 slots).
- Destroyer class ships to have a maximum of 3 mid slots
- Cruiser class ships to have a maximum of 4 mid slots - Like the Orthrus, for example.
- Battle-cruiser class ships to have a maximum of 5 mid slots (logistics ships mostly, usual number is 4) - Like the Hurricane Logistics ship, for example.
- Battleship class ships to have a maximum of high 5 mid slots - Like the Barghest , for example.
- Industrial class ships to have a maximum of 4 mid slots - Like the Humpback Combat ship, for example.
Low Slots (LS) - Enhancement
Low slots are for:
- Shield Boosters
- Shield Extenders
- Shield Hardeners
- Armor Repairers
- Armor Plates
- Armor Hardeners
- Damage Control
- Capacitor Batteries
- Afterburners
- Microwarpdrives
- Thruster Upgrades
- Weapon Upgrades
- Cloaking Devices
As of release, EVE Echoes currently allows:
- Frigate class ships to have a maximum of 3 low slots (with faction ships having possibility of 3 slots and most others 1-2).
- Destroyer class ships to have a maximum of 4 lowslots - Like the Algos Assault ship, for example.
- Cruiser class ships to have a maximum of 5 low slots - Like the Orthrus, for example.
- Battle-cruiser class ships to have a maximum of 7 low slots - Like the Ferox II Guardian ship, for example.
- Battleship class ships to have a maximum of high 7 low slots - Like the Rattlesnake, for example.
- Industrial class ships to have a maximum of 5 low slots - Like the Humpback Combat ship, for example (although most have 2-3).
